Polyoxymethylene, often also known as POM or acetal, is a high-precision technical polymer.
Properties:
- high strength (withstands significant wear without deformation)
- wear resistance (suitable for parts where friction or rubbing may occur)
- dimensional stability (retains its shape even with changes in temperature or humidity)
- low moisture absorption
- resistance to corrosion and chemicals
- good processability
Because of these properties, it is frequently used in the automotive industry, electronics, medicine, ... . Its adaptability and moldability allow the production of complex geometries, which is crucial for many applications. With ongoing development of materials and technologies, technical plastic has become an indispensable material in modern manufacturing.
Polyethylene is a thermoplastic polymer used in numerous applications, primarily due to its strength, chemical resistance, and ease of processing. It is the most commonly used polymer, present in many everyday objects.
Properties of polyethylene:
Polyethylene is a polymer with varying properties depending on its molecular structure and production process.
Low density: Polyethylene is known for its low density, making the material lightweight.
Corrosion and chemical resistance: Polyethylene is resistant to various chemicals, including some acids and bases. This property makes it suitable for use in industries requiring protection against corrosion.
Impact resistance: High-density polyethylene (HDPE) has good impact resistance.
Temperature resistance: Polyethylene has high resistance to low temperatures.
High strength and rigidity: HDPE is known for its high strength and rigidity, making it suitable for use in construction for pipes, tanks, and similar structural elements.
Recyclability: Polyethylene can be recycled and reused, contributing to waste reduction and more efficient use of resources.
